01 The client
The University Medical Polyclinic (PMU) is a center of reference in internal and general medicine, as well as in community health. She welcomes for any health problem, in consultation or emergency, in the heart of the hospital district of Lausanne.
Between April 7 to 9, 2017, we participated in the Arkathon Hacking Health Valais. During this weekend, we had to analyze, model and design a mobile application in 45 hours in order to find a solution for European doctors to more easily diagnose tropical diseases.
Based on this prototype, we continued our collaboration with PMU to have a functional and usable prototype for a first phase of testing with PMU doctors.
Assist clinicians and general practitioners in diagnosing tropical diseases upon return from travel and optimize treatments prescribed to patients.
Before we could embark on the development of a solution, we had to soak ourselves in the field in which we were. Actors in the field of medicine and more specifically that of tropical diseases have a jargon, requirements and a methodology of their own. We took part in consultations, analyzed how to diagnose diseases and participated in the development of a medical diagnosis.
In collaboration with physicians and based on our analysis, we modeled a new method of representing medical algorithms. This allows us to easily serialize the medical logic so that it can be interpreted by our solution.
